What this course covers
Systems and strategies to create more accessible training environments and inclusive programs so that individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities have the opportunity to improve their health, performance, and participate in athletics and recreational activities that they love.
What you’ll learn
Learners will be able to:
1. Differentiate between the definitions, perspectives, and application of several models of disability
2. Critique the way that disability is portrayed in the medical model frameworks and in the harmful narratives and stereotypes perpetuated by the media
3. Identify how the adoption of the perspectives outlined in the social model of disability can create more inclusive and accessible fitness and recreation programs.
