Terms of Service
The terms you agree to by using this site.
Updated September 28, 2026
These terms apply to your use of the AdaptX website, adaptx.org, including the online courses and learner portal (together, "the site"). The site is run by AdaptX Inc. ("AdaptX", "we", "us"), a Massachusetts nonprofit and registered 501(c)(3) public charity. By using the site, creating an account, buying or enrolling in a course, or donating, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Please also read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we handle your information.
Who Can Use the Site
Anyone may browse the public pages. To create an account, buy a course or donate, you must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf and supervises your use.
Your Account
- Give us accurate information, and keep your email address up to date so you can receive sign-in links and course updates.
- Keep your password and sign-in links private. A sign-in link works like a password: anyone who has it can sign in as you.
- Your account is for you alone. Do not share it or let anyone else take a course under your name.
- Tell us straight away at info@adaptx.org if you think someone else has used your account.
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing us. We keep records of purchases, donations and course completions where the law or our accounting requires it, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Online Courses
Access
When you buy or enroll in a course, you get personal access to it through the learner portal for as long as we offer that course, unless the course page says otherwise. We may update course materials, fix mistakes, or replace a course with an improved version.
Prices and Payment
Prices are shown in US dollars on the course page. Payments are processed by Stripe, and your card details go directly to Stripe, not to us. By paying, you confirm that you are allowed to use the payment method you provide. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment itself.
Free Courses and Access Codes
Some courses are free, or free with an access code. Access codes are for the person or group they were given to, can be used once per person unless we say otherwise, have no cash value, and may be withdrawn or expire. We may cancel access obtained through a code that was misused or shared outside its intended audience.
Cancellations and Refunds
If you have bought a course and not yet started it, you may cancel by emailing info@adaptx.org and we will refund the full price. Because course content is delivered digitally and becomes available as soon as you start, purchases are otherwise final once you have begun the course. We will consider any other request fairly, and nothing in these terms limits any refund rights you have under the law.
Certificates
Some courses offer a certificate of completion. A certificate confirms that you completed the course on our site. It is not an academic credit, professional licence or accreditation unless the course page clearly says so.
Donations
Donations are processed by Stripe, or through our donor database, Bloomerang. AdaptX is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 92-0688377), and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; we send a receipt by email. Donations are generally not refundable, but if you made a mistake, such as the wrong amount or a duplicate gift, email us within 30 days and we will put it right.
Events and Races
Registration for Unified 5K races and other events may be handled by a third party, such as RunSignUp. Those registrations are governed by that provider's terms and by any waiver or event rules you accept when you register.
Using the Learner Portal
The learner portal includes discussion boards, announcements and places to submit assignments. When you post or submit something, please:
- be respectful of other learners, instructors and the disability community;
- not post anything unlawful, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit or misleading;
- not share other people's personal information, or content you do not have the right to share;
- not post advertising, spam or links to harmful software.
You keep ownership of what you post and submit. You give AdaptX permission to store it, show it to the people it is meant for (such as other learners in a discussion, or instructors reviewing an assignment), and use it to run and improve the course. We will not publish your assignments outside the portal, or use them in our marketing, without asking you first. We may remove anything that breaks these terms.
Our Content
The site and its content, including course videos, text, quizzes, graphics, logos and the AdaptX name, belong to AdaptX or the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial learning. Unless we give you written permission, you may not copy, record, download (other than where the site offers a download), resell, publish or share course materials, or use them to train others or to build a competing product.
Educators and organizations interested in using our materials for a group are welcome to get in touch.
Things You Must Not Do
- break the law, or help anyone else to, through the site;
- try to get into accounts, data or parts of the site you are not allowed to reach, or test its security without our written permission;
- interfere with the site, overload it, or get around the security checks on its forms;
- use automated tools to copy or collect content or information from the site;
- pretend to be someone else, or to be connected with AdaptX when you are not.
Health, Fitness and Professional Information
Our courses and resources are for general education about inclusion, adaptive fitness and sport. They are not medical, legal, therapeutic or other professional advice. Before starting any exercise program, or changing how you coach or support an athlete, talk to a qualified professional about your circumstances. Taking part in physical activity carries some risk, and you are responsible for deciding what is safe for you and the people you work with.
Links and Other Services
The site links to, and relies on, services run by others, such as Stripe, Google, YouTube, Instagram, Bloomerang and RunSignUp. We are not responsible for their content or how they work, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
Copyright Complaints
If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email info@adaptx.org or write to AdaptX Inc., 417 Bolton Road, Lancaster, MA 01523, United States. Please include: your contact details; the work you believe is infringed; the web address of the material; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the copyright or are authorised to act for the owner, with your physical or electronic signature. We will respond to notices that meet the requirements of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep the site accurate, safe and running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or free of harmful components, or that any course will produce a particular result. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, AdaptX, its directors, staff, volunteers and instructors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunity, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site or these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law, and someone brings a claim against AdaptX as a result, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses we incur, including reasonable legal fees.
Suspending or Closing Accounts
We may suspend or close an account, or remove access to a course, if it is used in breach of these terms, to protect other learners, or where the law requires it. If we close an account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any course you paid for and have not been able to finish. You may stop using the site at any time.
Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a concern, please email us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly that way. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be decided by the state or federal courts located in Worcester County, Massachusetts, and you and AdaptX agree to those courts' jurisdiction, except that either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court. To the extent the law allows, claims must be brought individually and not as part of a class or representative action.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the site and the law change. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. If a change significantly affects people with accounts, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, are the whole agreement between you and AdaptX about the site. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.
