Gym Acclimation Program
Written by Evan Schwerbrock, M.S. and designed by the AdaptX team, this three-week program is designed for individuals with Visual Impairments who are interested in joining a gym but unsure how to navigate the unfamiliar space.
Evan developed Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy shortly after earning his bachelor's degree in health science. Within two weeks, he had massively impaired sight and had to figure out how to adapt to the gym and life with the new circumstances.
Evan continued on to receive his master's degree in kinesiology, become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a professor, personal trainer, and more. In 2020, he founded Cane and Able Fitness, a resource providing applicable and accessible health information to the blind of the world.
Evan has helped people all over the world to problem solve and overcome the issues that come with low vision to live healthier, happier lives.
