Dr. Cora Firkin

Dr. Cora Firkin is an Assistant Professor at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, where she strives to inspire her students to build authentic connections and value their learning as a meaningful journey toward making real-world impacts. In the community, she coaches several Special Olympics sports, including basketball, golf, and long-distance running and walking; co-leads a ministry for individuals with disabilities; and helps plan community health events. Dr. Firkin earned her honors Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Doctorate in Health Behavior Science and Promotion at the University of Delaware. Her research aims to empower individuals with and without disabilities to live active and fulfilling lifestyles by developing accessible, feasible, and innovative health interventions and assessments. She has received several prestigious recognitions, including SHAPE America’s Adapted Physical Education/Activity Graduate Student of the Year Award, AKA’s National Doctoral Scholar Award–Honorable Mention, SBM’s Meritorious Award, and NCPEID’s Emerging Scholar and Best Presentation Awards. Dr. Firkin currently serves as NCPEID’s Secretary, NAFAPA’s Member-at-Large, and sits on the Board for the ACSM’s Exercise is Medicine® Underserved and Community Health initiative. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of health professionals and fostering environments that support innovative discoveries in health and well-being.
