Dr. Brian Skotko

Dr. Brian Skotko is a board-certified medical geneticist renowned for his dedication to individuals with Down syndrome. He holds the position of Emma Campbell Endowed Chair on Down Syndrome at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he serves as Director of the Down Syndrome Program. In this role, Dr. Skotko leads clinical and translational research efforts aimed at enhancing the lives of those with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Skotko's academic journey includes degrees from Duke University, Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard Kennedy School. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. His research has been featured in prominent publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times.

Beyond his clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Skotko has co-authored award-winning books, including "Common Threads: Celebrating Life with Down Syndrome" and "Fasten Your Seatbelt: A Crash Course on Down Syndrome for Brothers and Sisters." Motivated by his personal connection—having a sister with Down syndrome—he serves on the Honorary Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress.

To expand access to specialized care, Dr. Skotko co-founded the innovative "Down Syndrome Clinic to You" (DSC2U), an online platform providing personalized resources to families and primary care providers. He actively shares insights and developments in the field through social media platforms.
