Dr. Michael Curtin, DPT, CSCS
Michael Curtin is a board-certified sports physical therapist and strength & conditioning specialist with extensive experience supporting both elite and adaptive athletes. He is now a physical therapist for the New England Patriots. Prior to his time in professional sports, Mike was a part of the team at Unified Health and Performance, where he worked directly with adaptive athletes across a spectrum of abilities, designing individualized strength programs, refining movement patterns, and optimizing performance outcomes.
Before joining Unified, Mike honed his expertise at Cressey Performance, where he developed a deep specialization in shoulder health and upper-extremity performance. That foundation has informed his ongoing clinical and educational work, particularly in addressing the unique demands placed on the shoulders of manual wheelchair users.
Drawing on years of applied experience in sport rehabilitation and performance, Mike co-designed the AdaptX Upper Extremity Health for Manual Wheelchair Users course, an innovative curriculum that blends research-based rehabilitation strategies with functional training principles. His teaching emphasizes injury prevention, mobility optimization, and accessible exercise progressions to help both clinicians and fitness professionals better serve adaptive athletes.
Mike’s evidence-driven, athlete-first approach embodies the AdaptX mission: empowering practitioners to make fitness more inclusive, informed, and human-centered.
